Raymond Briggs won the Kate Greenaway medal for distinguished illustration with 'Father Christmas,' his brilliant warm, witty and well-observed comic book story that looks beyond the stereotypes of a jolly Father Christmas to a salt-of-the-earth rather grumpy character who is sick of blooming snow, blooming frozen feets and blooming Christmas. There is wonderful detail in Raymond Briggs' illustrations and a great ear for dialogue too which, whether young or old, makes this a real joy to read! 'Happy Blooming Christmas to you too!'
